Replace slider jacket zip takes about 5 minutes (maybe a little bit more), but at the end of the day it is a quick job compared with replacing the complete zip.  There is a way that a slider should be inserted and the slider must also be the same type as the one that has broken.  All this explained in this video/blog

The cost to replace a zipper in jacket is usually quite expensive.  This is because it takes a lot of time to unpick the broken zipper and of course sew the new one back in.  Most jackets are lined or at least have a facing.  Plus there may be a hood or some embellishment in the way.

So if there is another way to repair the zip then I always look for it, because I want to help the customer save money where ever possible.  Some of the time it is just the slider that has broken, and if this is the case it is an easy one to fix.

The first thing you need to know is that each slider is a certain size.  And the size of the slider is marked on the back of the slider.  Turn the slider over and you will see some numbers.

The one that I repaired in this video was a 5V.  So the ONLY  slider that will work is another 5V.  In the video I show you a white plastic open ended jacket zip which is a number 5B.

Considering the cost to replace a jacket zip, it would be worthwhile purchasing a new jacket zip just for a slider.  The zip might set you back AUD$5 or so, but cheaper than replacing the whole zipper.

In this case, I did not have the right color, but my client was happy with what I provided.[/fusion_builder_column]
