My client had a dress with an open ended zip down the front.  The problem was that the end of the zip was broken.  So the zip opened all the way to the top.  Not a good look when you are out and about.

The major issue here is trying to purchase a metal zip this long, and then the cost of unpicking the existing zip and replacing it.  I quoted between $60 - $75 to do the job.  So to fix open ended metal dress zip without charging and arm and a leg, I had to think outside the box.

So I gave her an alternative.  What if I could cover the bottom of the zip?  Because once the zip is closed, it would not open if it was secured.  The dress had a fabric belt.  I used some of the fabric from the belt to cover the bottom of the zip.  Solved the problem and saved her some money.

Happy altering
