Shorten sleeves lined jacket mitred sleeve vent

The mitred sleeve on men's suit jackets can usually be recreated if there is enough fabric.  The fabric is situated at the end of the sleeve and is used to create the mitre.  A mitre needs at least 5 cm (2 in).  Check the split and see if there is this much from the top down to the new length.  If it is less the mitre may need to be closed.  A box split could be created instead which is explained in the eBook.

Learn how to pin then prepare the jacket sleeve.  It is imperative that the correct length is determined BEFORE anything else.  If the sleeve is pinned too short or too long, all the other work will be for naught.  Secondly preparing the jacket sleeves should be done in such a way as to have the job completed without any fuss.  Unpicking the wrong thing can lead to more time taken than necessary

The fashion fabric needs to be separated from the lining.  The marking of the fashion fabric should always be done on the wrong side.  The fashion fabric and the lining are cut differently.  New interfacing should be attached at the end of the sleeve and finally putting it all back together.

And instead of sewing on the buttons by hand, learn how to use your domestic sewing machine to achieve that.
