Tee shirt armhole big
Not everyone tries tee shirts on before they buy. And when you get home and try it on the armhole is way too big. What if you really like the tee, and would like to find a way to rescue it? Black, white, blue or navy tee shirts are easy to fix, because most stretch fabrics are easily purchased. Even if you go to a second hand shop and buy a cheap tee in the right color for fifty cents.
One of my clients purchased this tee for her daughter/s (twins) but the armhole was way to big. I had some black stretch fabric similar to the shade and made the inserts. She did not want to spend too much money as they were not expensive tees.
The best advise I can give is to have the person try on the tee and measure from the underarm to the front where you would like the insert to stop and place a pin.
Then measure from the underarm to the back where you want the insert to stop and place a pin.
Now measure from the front pin to the back pin under the arm. This will be the width of the insert.
From there it is just a matter of folding the fabric over so that the fold is at the top. Measure the width of the fold, which is the measurement from front pin to back pin | PLUS SEAM ALLOWANCE EACH SIDE
Measure from the front and back pin to the underarm seam plus seam allowance. Cut out your shape and lay under the armhole to make sure you are happy with the insert.
The back should be wider than the front. Reverse for the opposite underarm.
