Mastectomy bags help patient after breast surgery. When women have a Mastectomy, and are in hospital recovering, they usually have to take a mobile IV drip stand where ever they go. This is cumbersome and adds to the frustration they are already feeling after surgery.
When I was heavily involved with the Australian Sewing Guild, I asked members if they would make these Mastectomy bags and we delivered up to 100 year to the Robina hospital each year.
Some ladies around Australia are still making them. Contact your local hospital and ask them if they would like some. Use your scrapes from your stash, but do make sure it is cotton fabric and it is clean.
We always tried to make them from good quality fabric and fabric that was bright. I also made my with a pocket for their phone or other items
Here is the PDF if you are interested in making some and giving to your local hospital.
